Actor DeRon Horton Shot Before the Holidays!

DeRon Horton is currently in recovery. The actor, known for his role as Lionel Higgins in all four seasons of the Netflix series Dear White People, is recuperating after being shot. Horton recently posted a series of images showing his injured arm while receiving treatment at a hospital. In his post, he expressed gratitude, acknowledging the protection and guidance he received, stating, “First off. I wanna give an honor to God for covering me and protecting me to make it out this situation and countless other ones. Everybody that checked on me n holla’d at me specially my family n friends I love yall, Thank you.” He also reflected on the unexpected nature of the incident, mentioning, “Gettin shot a few days before Xmas def wasn’t on my wish list, but it happened.”

The actor described being shot through his car, with the shared photos revealing the shattered window. Among the supportive comments on his post was a message from his Dear White People co-star, Logan Browning, who wrote, “Dear God, thank you for protecting my special Deron.” Despite the ordeal, the 32-year-old Horton maintained a sense of gratitude, emphasizing, “But I’m Blessed dawg to not be in a casket or paralyzed. Lord Thank You. I’m out the hospital now healing. I got a plate n screws in my mf arm, so I can’t workout for a minute which I’m mad about BUT it coulda been worse!” Additionally, he conveyed that he was not seeking sympathy, focusing instead on his positive outlook and faith.

Horton’s message concluded with a reminder to prioritize faith and gratitude, stating, “I’m finna bounce right back I feel amazing. I just wanted to remind yall and myself to Keep God first!
