Buckingham Palace Gates Crash Driver Pleads Guilty!

A man who crashed his car into the gates of Buckingham Palace has admitted to causing damage estimated at more than £24,000. Johnny Scott, a 26-year-old from Hornchurch, East London, appeared “fidgety and dazed” as reported in Westminster Magistrates’ Court after he drove his VW Polo into the south-center gates on March 9th. It was noted that no members of the Royal Family were present at the palace during the time of the incident, according to a palace spokesman.

Scott, who was apprehended by armed officers at the scene, appeared in court and pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage. Following his plea, medical reports were requested before his scheduled appearance at the same court on February 13th. District Judge Annabel Pilling granted Scott conditional bail, indicating that a community-based penalty was more probable than a prison sentence. She emphasized, “You have admitted guilt today, which will be taken into account as you did so at an early stage.”
