California Wildfires One of America’s Worst Natural Disasters!

“Was it simply overwhelming? That the amount of resources used depleted them? Was it due to pipes? Electricity? Or a combination of pipes, electricities, and pumps? Was the drawdown impossible because of the loss of over seven thousand structures right here, each with a leaking pipe leading to loss of water pressure?” Newsom inquired. “Did this contribute to our inability to combat the fire? Or were the 99-mile-an-hour winds the deciding factor, rendering any firefight efforts ineffective?” he continued to ask.

On Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump blamed Newsom and President Joe Biden for the lack of water in fire hydrants, posting on Truth Social, “NO WATER IN THE FIRE HYDRANTS, NO MONEY IN FEMA. THIS IS WHAT JOE BIDEN IS LEAVING ME. THANKS JOE!” Trump also criticized Newsom for not approving a plan to redirect water from Northern California to Southern California during his first term. Experts have clarified that this debate has no relevance to the current wildfires, which were primarily caused by a prolonged dry spell and strong winds.

Trump accused Newsom of prioritizing the protection of a fish species over the people of California, claiming that his actions were ineffective. Newsom responded by denouncing Trump’s attempts to connect the delta smelt to the fires, calling it inaccurate and perplexing to those familiar with water policy in the state.

Furthermore, Trump targeted Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, blaming her and Newsom for the wildfire situation. In response, Newsom expressed confidence in his community, leaders, and their ability to collaborate. He also praised Biden for swiftly issuing a major disaster declaration and facilitating federal aid to California.

Looking ahead, Newsom discussed plans for rebuilding after the fires, emphasizing Los Angeles’ role in hosting the 2028 Olympic Games. He acknowledged Trump’s contribution to bringing the Olympics to the U.S. and highlighted the opportunity for the country, California, and the local community to shine.

Preparations for the Olympics are underway, with Newsom mentioning a ‘Marshall Plan’ for rebuilding and reimagining Los Angeles. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity and collaboration with city, civic, and business leaders in the recovery efforts.

“Leaders, along with nonprofits. We’re engaging with labor leaders. We’re beginning to strategize on how to assemble a group of individuals focused on philanthropy for recovery. How we can coordinate the region,” Newsom said.
