Los Angeles Basketball Back in Action Monday After Fires Postponed Games!

The Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers are set to resume playing home games on Monday following multiple postponements due to the wildfires raging in Los Angeles. The NBA has given the green light for the Clippers to face off against the Miami Heat on Monday night at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. Meanwhile, the Lakers are expected to take on the Spurs at the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles.

Despite the ongoing wildfires, the scheduling of these games is tentative and subject to change based on the evolving situation. Both teams had their home games postponed over the weekend due to the fires wreaking havoc across the city. The Clippers’ matchup against the Charlotte Hornets and the Lakers’ games against the Hornets and Spurs were all affected by the postponements.

At this time, there have been no official makeup dates announced for the postponed games. In a related development, an NFL playoff game between the Rams and Vikings that was initially slated to take place in Inglewood on Monday has been relocated to Arizona.

Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard made headlines when he missed Wednesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets to support family members affected by the Palisades fire. Leonard returned to practice on Sunday as the Clippers geared up to take on the Heat. His absence was keenly felt by teammates Nico Batum and Terance Mann, who expressed their concern for Leonard and his family’s well-being.

As of the latest reports on Sunday, around 153,000 residents in the Los Angeles area have been issued evacuation orders, with an additional 166,000 residents advised to prepare for potential evacuation orders. Tragically, the wildfires have claimed the lives of at least 16 individuals, underscoring the severity of the situation gripping the region.
