Star Player Herb Jones Sidelined Indefinitely with Shoulder Injury!

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Friday that forward Herb Jones, known for his defensive prowess, has suffered a posterior labrum tear in his right shoulder. The injury will keep him out of action indefinitely. The news was revealed just before the Pelicans’ scheduled game against the Philadelphia 76ers, marking the beginning of a three-game road trip that will also see them face the Boston Celtics on Sunday and the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

Jones underwent an MRI on Thursday following his departure from Wednesday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. This setback comes after the talented forward missed 18 games earlier in the season due to a previous injury to the same shoulder. He made his return on December 5 and went on to start 16 consecutive games for the Pelicans.

So far this season, Jones has featured in 20 out of New Orleans’ 38 games, averaging 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game in an average of 32.4 minutes on the court. Drafted by the Pelicans as the 35th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones has amassed valuable experience, having played in a total of 240 career games for the team. His impressive defensive skills were recognized last season when he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team.
