MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Wide receiver Tyreek Hill remains dedicated to the Miami Dolphins, confirmed his agent, despite recent speculation suggesting otherwise. Agent Drew Rosenhaus emphasized Hill’s commitment during an appearance on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” last Thursday. Rosenhaus acknowledged Hill’s frustration following the Dolphins’ failure to secure a playoff berth, a first in his career, but stressed that Hill’s desire to win is paramount.
Describing Hill as “very passionate,” Rosenhaus stated, “What you see with Tyreek is very genuine. He wants to win. It’s not good enough for him not to make the playoffs. He is very passionate. I think at the end of the day, he is committed to this Dolphins football team.”
Furthermore, Rosenhaus disclosed that Hill had played through a significant injury throughout the season, revealing that the star athlete had endured a broken wrist sustained during a preseason scrimmage against Washington. Despite medical recommendations for season-ending surgery, Hill opted to continue playing, displaying his team-first mentality. Rosenhaus recounted the advice given to Hill by medical professionals, highlighting the potential long-term impact of forgoing surgery.
“The doctors all said: ‘It’s going to be painful. It could impact your entire career. If you don’t get it done now, you may not be able to fix it all the way,'” Rosenhaus detailed. “Tyreek said: ‘Hey, to heck with it. I’m a team guy, I’m going for it.'”
In a challenging season where Hill’s performance dipped compared to his usual standards, the receiver amassed 959 yards, marking his lowest total since 2019 when he was limited due to injuries with Kansas City. Additionally, his 81 receptions were also fewer than in previous seasons, underscoring the difficulties faced by both Hill and the Dolphins.
Following a disappointing Week 18 loss to the Jets that dashed Miami’s postseason aspirations, Hill expressed frustration and hinted at a potential departure from the team. His post-game comments, particularly stating, “I’m out, bro. It was great playing here,” raised concerns about his future with the Dolphins. Hill’s competitive drive and pursuit of career success were central themes in his remarks.
However, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel swiftly addressed Hill’s comments as an emotional response to the team’s challenging season, noting that Hill had removed himself from the game late in the third quarter.
