Irish Wolfhound Therapy Dog Helps Injured Puppy Trust Again!

Irish Wolfhounds are often known as “gentle giants” due to their massive size and intimidating appearance. Despite this, they are actually very gentle and have a calm and patient personality, making them great companions for kids, families, and other dogs. Chicken, a young Irish Wolfhound, spends her days with her mom at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, where she volunteers as a therapy dog, providing love and comfort to rescues and fosters in need.

One of the recent intakes at the center is Ghost, a five-month-old Pit Bull puppy who was a victim of a brutal attack, resulting in the amputation of one of his front legs. Ghost is currently recovering at the medical center, and staff felt he could benefit from the gentle presence of Chicken to help him feel safe and supported during his healing process.

Chicken has been comforting animals at the center since she was a puppy, showing them how to be dogs and offering her calming and comforting presence to soothe their spirits. She has been a source of solace for Ghost, allowing him to rest comfortably next to her and providing him with the support he needs.

Ghost is now up for adoption and is described as a sweet and playful puppy who is eager to bond with a loving family. Despite his disability, Ghost has a good prognosis and can lead a long, happy life with the right environment and understanding adopters. Many commenters have shared their positive experiences with tripod dogs and have expressed support for Ghost’s future.
