Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Today’ Show Debut with Jenna Bush Hager A Wild Dream!

Move aside, Hoda Kotb, as a fresh face is set to join the ranks of co-hosts on the popular “Today” show. Jenna Bush Hager, known for her role in hosting the show’s fourth-hour segment alongside Kotb since 2019, shared the news on Tuesday that actress Scarlett Johansson will be stepping up to the anchor desk. In an interview with People magazine, Hager revealed that Johansson, a recognized figure in the Marvel cinematic universe, will be seated opposite her for a week, commencing on Jan. 21. This move comes as part of a reinvigorated approach following Kotb’s departure, with Johansson being just one of several high-profile celebrities scheduled to make guest appearances on the show.

Joining Hager in this new hosting dynamic will be Taraji P. Henson, Eva Longoria, and Keke Palmer, among other notable personalities, as announced by “Today” on Monday. Henson is slated to grace the show on Jan. 13 and Jan. 17, followed by Longoria on Jan. 14, and Palmer on Jan. 15. Speaking about Johansson’s upcoming stint, Hager expressed her excitement, labeling it as a “wild dream,” emphasizing the honor of having someone of Johansson’s caliber dedicating time to the show. Hager’s anticipation for the collaboration was palpable as she eagerly awaits the experience.

The forthcoming launch of “Today with Jenna & Friends” is set for Jan. 13, with the revamped format showcasing Hager alongside a rotating roster of guest hosts until a permanent co-host is appointed, as per Today.com. The concept of rotating hosts has gained traction in recent times, with prominent examples being the late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel utilizing it during their prolonged absences. Similarly, “The Daily Show” has adopted this approach since Trevor Noah’s departure, indicating a trend towards diversification and inclusivity in hosting arrangements.

Reflecting on the new format, Hager highlighted the inclusive nature of the show, aiming to cater to a diverse audience by featuring guests from various fields including acting, comedy, and media. The intention is to offer something for every viewer, aligning with the show’s commitment to representing its audience comprehensively. As Hager looks forward to the diverse array of talents set to grace the show, she expressed enthusiasm for the inclusive and engaging atmosphere that will ensue.

During a recent episode of “Today,” Kotb expressed her enthusiasm for Johansson’s upcoming appearance, commending the chemistry between Hager and the Hollywood star. Kotb, a seasoned anchor at NBC, is preparing to bid farewell to the “Today” show after almost three decades with the network, including an impressive 18-year tenure on the morning show. Her departure marks the end of an era, but also signals a new chapter as she hints at an upcoming wellness venture, featuring podcasts and retreats, expected to be fully unveiled in the spring
