The Jacksonville Jaguars returned to Jacksonville early Monday after enduring a lengthy delay due to a winter storm at Indianapolis International Airport. According to the National Weather Service, central Indiana experienced heavy snowfall ranging between 2 and 5 inches, along with freezing drizzle and wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph.
The Jaguars, with a season record of 4-13, had initially aimed to depart Indianapolis before the severe weather hit. However, their game against the Colts extended into overtime, resulting in a significant delay that left players, coaches, and staff stranded at the airport. Ultimately, the Jaguars suffered a 26-23 defeat.
After a prolonged wait, the team’s charter flight received clearance for departure at 1 a.m. EST, touching down in Jacksonville two hours later. This delay impacted owner Shad Khan’s planned meeting with head coach Doug Pederson to strategize the team’s future direction.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs managed to avoid the adverse weather conditions by opting to stay in Denver overnight following their game against the Broncos.
