A man found in possession of cocaine valued at £1.5 million in his car following a routine stop on the M6 has been sentenced to over five years in prison. Peter Wiggins, residing at Wordsworth Crescent in Blacon, Chester, was apprehended while driving a Vauxhall Astra close to Stafford Services on the 26th of November, according to Cheshire Police. Upon inquiry by law enforcement officers about any noteworthy items, the 55-year-old revealed the presence of a box in the trunk. Inside this box were fifteen packages of cocaine, with an estimated combined street value of £1.5 million.
Detective Sergeant Roy Wellings mentioned that Wiggins had visited a location in the West Midlands, staying there for two hours before returning towards Cheshire. Subsequent to his arrest, a search was conducted at Wiggins’ residence, leading to the discovery of over £500 in cash, two bags, a container filled with a white substance, and a knuckle duster. Wiggins faced charges of possession with intent to distribute Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was handed a sentence of five years and four months at Stafford Crown Court on Thursday.
