49ers Receiver Jauan Jennings Demands Contract Upgrade!

Jauan Jennings arrived at training camp for the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California, seeking a new contract. General manager John Lynch confirmed that Jennings passed his physical and is expected to participate in practice starting Wednesday. Lynch praised Jennings for embodying the team’s values and playing with the right attitude. Coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned that Jennings has not officially requested a trade but is looking for a long-term extension as he enters the final year of his current contract. Shanahan expressed a desire to secure extensions for Jennings and right tackle Colton McKivitz before the season begins, emphasizing the importance of addressing the business side of the game. The team hopes to avoid contract distractions after previously dealing with issues involving other players in recent years. Jennings, a seventh-round pick in 2020, has become a top target for quarterback Brock Purdy and is expected to have a significant role this season. The 49ers have some players on injury lists to start camp, including those recovering from ACL injuries, but are hopeful for their return during the first half of the season. Shanahan mentioned that running back Christian McCaffrey and tackle Trent Williams are healthy but will have their workloads managed during camp. The team signed Equanimeous St. Brown to provide depth at wide receiver following a tryout with multiple players. St. Brown has previous NFL experience with Green Bay, Chicago, and New Orleans.
