Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has announced her plans to retire in the coming months. The Czech player shared the news on social media, following the confirmation of her wild card entry for Wimbledon. Kvitova expressed her excitement for participating in The Championships at Wimbledon once more, a tournament that holds special memories for her. She stated her intention to conclude her active playing career at the US Open in New York later this summer, while remaining undecided about her upcoming hardcourt swing in the US. Kvitova, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 2, has been a key player for the Czech Republic in the Fed Cup, now known as the Billie Jean King Cup. The 35-year-old last competed at Wimbledon in 2023 and recently became a mother. After returning to the WTA Tour in February following a 17-month break, she is currently ranked 572nd.
