18 Shot in Seconds! Deadly Mass Shooting Unfolds

Police reported that a “deplorable and cowardly” mass shooting occurred in Chicago on Wednesday night, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to 14 others. The incident took place in the River North neighborhood as people were leaving a venue and standing on the sidewalk. A vehicle approached, and someone inside opened fire on the crowd, indiscriminately striking 18 individuals within seconds, according to Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling.

While the specific target remains unclear, the venue was the focus of the attack. The suspects fled the scene swiftly, evading apprehension. Two men and two women in their 20s lost their lives, identified as Leon Andrew Henry, 25, and Devonte Terrell Williamson, 23. Additionally, 14 individuals sustained injuries, several in critical condition and predominantly women in their 20s and 30s.

The aftermath was described as chaotic by Pastor Donovan Price, who witnessed the scene. A separate mass shooting on Chicago’s far South Side hospitalized four more individuals on the same night. Despite these tragedies, crime data indicated a decrease in murders and shooting incidents in the city year-to-date as of June 29.
