A glimpse into the atmosphere at BET’s ‘106 & Park’ at BET Studios on July 3, 2013 in New York City. Amid speculations of a potential return for BET’s iconic “106 & Park,” the network has revealed plans for a nostalgic reunion of the beloved daily countdown show. Former hosts of the early 2000s hit program are set to come together to commemorate the show’s 25th anniversary at the 2025 BET Awards, as announced in a press release on May 6. This special reunion will feature performances from renowned hip hop and R&B artists whose music videos once had viewers grooving in their living rooms post-school hours. Connie Orlando, BET’s EVP of Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy, described the show as a “cultural touchstone” that provided a unique connection between artists and fans, turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. The legacy of the show continues to shape how we engage with music, interact with talent, and celebrate Black creativity. The 2025 “BET Awards” is scheduled to air live on Monday, June 9 at 8 p.m. ET. Among the former ‘106 & Park’ hosts expected to attend are Bow Wow, Keshia Chante, and Trina. The lineup of performers includes B2K, Amerie, Jim Jones, T.I., and Bow Wow. Originally launched in September 2000, ‘106 & Park’ quickly became a popular weeknight destination for Black millennials to enjoy music videos and exclusive celebrity interviews after school. The show featured a wide range of notable guests, from musicians like Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj to actors such as Denzel Washington and models like Tyra Banks. With an in-studio audience cheering them on, rising stars in the entertainment industry were spotlighted, offering young fans a firsthand look at their journey. Bow Wow, affectionately known as “Mr. 106 & Park,” captured the hearts of fans and set a record for the most retired videos on the platform before transitioning to become one of the show’s hosts in the early 2010s. ‘106 & Park’ bid farewell in 2014 after a successful run with various hosts over the years. BET’s CEO hinted at the possibility of a revamped version of ‘106 & Park’ during an interview, suggesting potential digital and podcast formats to keep the essence of the show alive in 2025.
