Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, has implemented an important decision against overtourism. According to the statement made by the local administration, new hotel buildings will not be allowed to be built in the city.

It was stated that the decision is part of the fight against mass tourism, "We want to make and protect the city livable for residents and visitors."

Stating that overtourism and new hotels will not be allowed, the local government stated that hotels will not be allowed to stay more than 20 million nights a year.

Accordingly, the opening of a new hotel in Amsterdam will require the closure of another hotel. The ban will not apply to hotels that have already received permission.
