The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that 48-year-old Michael Render has been taken into custody and procedures have begun for his release.
In a statement, the rapper was involved in a fight and was handcuffed and detained by police.
Footage shared by the Hollywood Reporter shows Render being led in handcuffs by police out of the Crypto Arena, where the awards ceremony was held.
Render received awards for best rap album, best rap song and best rap performance at Sunday night's ceremony.
